Quantum of Solace
Went to see QoS this morning. Enjoyed it...but the theme song was absolutely awful, and I am a big fan of Jack White. What a screaching cacophony. The film itself was a blur of superfast editing which reminded me a lot of the Bourne movies. It was also very short for this kind of 'event' movie and it showed, I think. Each time Daniel Craig came close to revealing some kind of emotional life we were thrown back into the action. It's not a bad movie, and it certainly isn't a bad Bond movie, but I had hoped for a little more. Having said all of that, Daniel Craig, even on the evidence of one good movie and one okay movie, is easily the best Bond ever.

things I have learned
Always make a back-up. My big disk failed and I have lost 2000 albums and 400Gbs of TV shows. When I transfered it all to the new disk I meant to set up a back up but got distracted by the new baby. Fortunately I still had my movies on another disk, so they are safe. The silver lining is that I have wanted to start again for some time. I initially ripped the albums at too low a bitrate and I wanted to do them again. And did I really need 9 albums by some obscure French throat singer? No. This is a good thing. I am getting prepared for the next level of my digital life. I have 200 albums so far and I gave made sure that all the info is complete and that they have cover art. It is all coming along quite nicely and look lovely in the new version of iTunes.

sleeping like a baby
Babycake slept in his own bed for the entire night for the first time last night. Slowly but surely we will soon have some privacy. Only another two I'd three years until the other one, can't remember her cake name, is sleeping in her own bed too.

cunning like a fox
We bought a Big Issue from a street vendor the other day. He gave the 50p change to Babycake. We completely forgot about. Later on Babycake jumped on one of those annoying children's rides that are scattered around shopping centres. He put his hand in his pocket and produced the 50p, which he then put in the slot. Too clever by half, if you ask me.

yuk!
I managed to lose my wedding ring yesterday. I was cooking and I had oil on my hands a couple of times so I'm pretty sure that I must have thrown it in the bin. I am sitting next to the full bin bag smoking a fag putting off the inevitable.

to infinity and beyond...
I was playing around with the screen sharing feature of OS X 10.5 yesterday. On my Macbook I shared the screen with my iMac and on my iMac I shared the screen with my Macbook. For some reason, magic no doubt, this is what happened. It was quite cool to watch as the little picture retreated into infinity. Do you think it really is infinity or is there some physical, mechanical, reason why the display couldn't do that?
I know, I know, this is a pathetic post after such a wait. It's the best I can do at the moment. Two children are just draining my little brain until I can't think anymore.
