babycake's first haircut
This morning when I was out shopping with Babycake, I asked him, as I have on many occasions, "do you want to get your hair cut?" To my utter astonishment, he said, "yes". I wasted no time and immediately took him to the nearest barber. He was great, and he is now the proud owner of a new haircut.

oh, wow!
iTeletext has got to be one of the best apps yet for the iPhone. I didn't even realise that I wanted teletext on my phone until I saw this. It is brilliantly executed and well worth the cash. Buy it now!

relax
Had a lovely weekend with the Carrot Cakes, who looked after us beautifully. Babycake and Shortcake fitted right in and we seriously thought about leaving them with their new mummy and daddy to enjoy a very pleasant life. Babycake didn't treat them to his newly acquired vocabulary of vileness and we didn't hear 'fucking road' (transformed to 'rocking road'), 'fucking hell' or 'bugger' at all. I did try to get him to tell them of his affection for Gok Wan, as cruel parent that I am, I was in complete hysterics when Babycake (who substitutes a 'k' sound for 'g') announced that he liked Gok - but he wouldn't do this either.
We were all exhausted when we left (relaxing is very hard work for us these days) and Babycake had a nap on the way home. This was a disaster, as we are not allowing easy opportunities for sleep in the day for him as it invariably means that he doesn't sleep until 10pm and of course he didn't sleep until 10pm last night. If kept awake, we enjoy 7.30pm to 6am of sleeping Babycake, giving us an evening free of toddler. Shortcake (so far) is sleeping like a normal baby and I only have to wake a couple of times at night, which takes me right back to Babycake...at 20 months! Anyway, he is my precious first born and I love him, even though he does not want to cuddle me quite as much as I would like. Shortcake however, gives me as many cuddles as I want, she smiles and coos at me and thinks I am wonderful, so already we agree on something.

wonders will never cease
The first generation iPhone has certainly held its value. I just sold my old phone on eBay for more than I paid for it, which is nice.

babycake's first swear word
Mrs McMuffin, ever eager to be the good parent, taught Babycake his first swear word yesterday. Of course, we have both sworn around him but he has never paid any attention, until now. No sooner had she said "bugger", than we heard this little voice echo it back. Fortunately he hasn't repeated it, but I imagine he is saving it for the most embarrassing moment possible.

tipping the appstore
What is it about Americans and their obsession with tipping applications? The appstore is full of little applications for calculating tips. It is a sad comment on a nation whose people need a computer to work out a 10% tip or how to split the cost of a meal between two people.

a nice start to the day
Dropped off Babycake at nursery and am now enjoying a coffee and some iPhone browsing at Costa before heading off to work in minute. Why can't all days begin like this?
