preoccupations

While Mr McMuffin is 'iphone this' and 'iphone that', I find myself getting obsessed with finding the perfect tandem buggy. While I am happy to carry the 'new one' (we're not quite sure how to refer to the baby to be) in a sling and push Babycake in the buggy, if he needs it Mr McMuffin isn't keen on the Hugabub or Ergo or any other sling. He was content to carry Babycake in a little pouch that looked like a very strange shoulder bag, but when the boy got too heavy for that, he couldn't take to carrying him on his front.

So I have been searching for the perfect buggy. We both loved the totally exorbitant 'Phil and Ted's', but sadly it is too unstable for Babycake, who is fast approaching the size of a three year old. To further my research I've been looking at some US brands and am sickened. What is wrong with you people? Running strollers...what sickness is this? For goodness sake, the only time in your life you're allowed to wear ratty trousers and a baggy top and not get your hair cut and some people choose to go running with small children. Bloody madness. I despair for your nation.

We referred to the first child, in utero, as "Humberto" - we had become convinced that she would be a boy (wrong, obviously), and that was the first name that I suggested and had rejected... first of many.

We referred to the second child in utero as "H2," or alternatively "Baby Hummer" in reference to the SUV of the same name, and the enormous amount of room that #2 seemed to be occupying.

I would like to reassure you that at no point did we ever go running with a jogging stroller.

All good suggestions and am glad to hear that jogging strollers are not used by the lovely people who drop by here. Mr McMuffin and I can't seem to stop calling the poor little mite 'the other one' or for babycake 'the little baby in Mummy's tummy'. Babycake is not very impressed with the notion of little babies and give my bump a good whack every now and then.

I'll call him Mini-Muffin. (Must be said with pinky finger to side of chin.)

You could try the Joovy Caboose tandem stroller. We have an active 2.5 year old who doesn't like to sit in a "typical" stroller, so the Joovy is perfect for him (he can sit on a "big-boy" seat or stand).

Oh, your musings about jogging strollers had me laughing. I must confess I own not only a jogging stroller, but also a jogging/bicycle stroller so that if at any moment I feel I should exercise I can take the kids along. Alas, I don't feel that need to exercise often enough.
