i forgot mention...
As a little tribute to Germany I decided to change the language on my iPhone to German. I don't understand a word of it but fortunately I have more or less memorised where everything is.

Hope you're turning off international roaming the rest of the time, or your next bill will be astronomical!
Tried the Heffe-Weizen beer yet? (Might be more of a southern thing.)
If you have time, don't forget to see the Hackeschen Höfe (sp?), which is a few interconnected courtyards in the old Jewish citadel.

We went to Hackeschen Höfe on Thursday. It was okay, nothing to write home about really. However, we went to a cafe there and had the most fantastic breakfast. I can't remember what it was called but I keep thinking about it. The food in Germany was great, which surprised me a little. I have no idea what I expected, but I didn't expect it to be so good.

Sure, it's not a breathtaking sight - although it has its charm in some of the courtyards. For me it was interesting as it was a tangible sign of Jewish life in Berlin from before the late-thirties onwards. Where else do you see that in normal architecture in modern-day Berlin?
Good food here, yes. They like their food.
