guitar man

Since Rock Cake let Babycake play with his guitar, we have had a child overtaken by the need to strum anything that looks remotely like a guitar and squeal loudly with delight. So far he has attempted to play a picture of a violin and a book cover containing a somewhat abstract representation of a guitar.

I would get him a small toy one for Christmas, but is it really responsible? Should I really be encouraging my boy to follow in the footsteps of Keith Richards, Axl Rose and James from Metallica? Then again, I could encourage him to take up the violin and he could end up like Nigel Kennedy. Now that doesn't bear thinking about.

It seems to me that this is the perfect opportunity to justify the purchase of Guitar Hero.

Ooh, I'm not sure what that is, but it sounds good.

You could split the difference and get him a cheap ukulele. Sounds irritating in principle, but extensive field testing at our house has proven otherwise. And it looks like a "real" guitar - they seem to pick up on authenticity which is why obsolete cell phones are more play-worthy than toy cell phones.
