home tomorrow

It seems to have gone so quickly and we only have tomorrow morning, before we return on the train. We have been upgraded to first class, which is nice, but it's not really much to write home about and I don't believe that Kylie travels this way-I'm sure they must have a special celeb carriage.

Babycake really is sick and was very happy to be carried in his sling today, when normally he's very keen to have a little walk around. He only ate porrigde, refusing everything else and then when we tried to give him some calpol, he threw it all up over the pair of us. He's desperately trying to be happy and lively, but he's still exhausted and wobbly. Mr McMuffin and I are now debating whether to go out for a meal with Babycake cosy in the sling and choking on cigarette smoke, or try and bring something in, as there's no restaurant at this hotel. Our choices seem to be limited to crepes, burgers or paninis, which hardly sets my pulse racing but I think that's what it's going to have to be as the boy is now sleeping in Mr McMuffin's arms.

Aside from the sickness, it's been great and we've explored new places, but I'd love a few more days to see a bit more before coming home to the grind.

me again (with a french accent)

Ladefence

Poor little Babycake has come down with some lurgy. He is all tired and coughing, but he is soldiering on, as usual. We went to La Défense. Mrs McMuffin wanted to see it for some reason, but I was quite convinced that it was basically an office block and I couldn't see the point. Believe it or not, it really is an office block, well more like hundreds of office blocks, and it is fantastic. It is like some kind of incredible futuristic city. Absolutely amazing and well worth a trip next time you are in Paris. Mrs McMuffin has let me out for a little while all by myself. She has taken the boy off for a walk in the park. He seems to have made some kind of recovery after having some mother's milk. Must get on now. So little time and so much surfing to do.

about time

Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was very kind and I have been meaning to post for ages about it, but it feels a bit late now. As if having Babycake and working full time wasn't enough, I'm also studying for a stupid management qualification, so the spare seconds I have are usually spend doing something glamorous like shaving my legs. So it's a bit odd that we come to Paris to celebrate and have fun and I actually have time to write something (yes, this does count as fun).

We're back in the same hotel as last time, because we both liked the location-it's right next to the Luxembourg Gardens. Right now I'm sitting in a cafe watching Babycake leading Mr McMuffin around by his reins and I'm spying on the customers at Dalloyau and wondering what gorgeousness I'm going to buy from there later. I love it here, even if it is cold and wet. Babycake has made lots of friends and has now fallen in love with Clementine from the cafe. Actually, he's just given up Clementine for another pretty girl and is grinning his head off at her. Fickle, fickle child, I hope he behave better when he's grown.

I'm not sure what we're going to do today. Mr McMuffin wasn't taken with my desire to visit La Defense, so we might get on a river bus and see a few sights again.

in paris

I am sitting in a cafe in Paris drinking coffee and trying to do some work on my lovely little Macbook. This is the first public outing of the Macbook, and it is performing wonderfully. We are in Paris as part of Mrs McMuffin's 40th birthday celebrations. The weather is a bit chilly and it has been threatening to rain since we arrived, but that hasn't stopped us from wandering around. Babycake is having a great time looking and looking and looking, and trying to make friends with every small dark woman that he meets. He likes small dark women, apparently. Mrs McMuffin is off hunting for baby milk and nappies. Computers are wonderful but it is so tempting to do some work. Anyway, sorry we haven't posted for ages. Hope you are all well. Bye for now.

mrs mcmuffin is 40 today

Cakesbex_1

I can't believe that the young slip of a girl that I first met about 15 years ago is now 40. When I first met her she was young and care free. She is now a mother, a wife and she bosses people around at work. She is still lovely and I love her. Happy birthday, darling. Our plan is to have the whole day together without...you know who. We are dropping Babycake off at his grandparents and heading up to London. Mrs McMuffin wants to go on the flumes exhibition at Tate Modern. I must admit, I quite fancy that myself. We are then going up the West End to do some shopping. Sounds like a good day to me.
