cameras
I think I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was getting a new camera. I fell for the sleek loveliness that is the Samsung NV10. I couldn't help it. It was all black retro with touch sensitive controls and 10MP. What was a boy to do? Anyway, it arrived and we started taking photos with it. One or two came out really nice, but generally they were a little bit blurry. It was almost as if the camera was too powerful for it's size. I know next to nothing about cameras, and that is probably nonsense. I just didn't like the photos. The ever efficient people over at Amazon agreed to take the camera back and have refunded our money. I have now ordered a sleek black Sony T50. I loved our other Sony, so I have high hopes for this one. Sure, it's a little bit more expensive and there are fewer MPs for your buck. I don't care, I just want a camera that takes nice photos. Anyway, does anyone really need a camera that takes 10MP photos? Although, I must admit that it was a bit like living in Bladerunner. I could zoom in on the number plates of cars that were parked way off in the distance. That was a little bit cool.

Much to my wife's horror, I've been thinking about replacing our functional Nikon digital camera, so I've been following your adventures in buying same. I'm leaning towards the Casio EX S770 for fast shutter speed and the decent motion filming with sound... but all of this would require me to get out the wallet and that's where it all falls apart, dammit.

It always amazes me that they cram more and more resolution into these compact cameras. Where will it end. I always go for Fuji cameras - I just like the images they produce. The E900 isn't as sleek or good looking as either of the ones you tried, but I like its features and flexibility.

By the way that "too powerful for its size" comment reminds me of my mother-in-law, who took an electric kettle back because it boiled the water too fast!

The Time Sunday supplement reviewed both of your camera choices this weekend. You made the right decision, in their eyes.
