working for the technology

Bugaboocameleon

I have got the opportunity at work to make a little money doing some overtime. I'm thinking of it as working for technology. I am thinking about getting a new iMac and a Macbook, which should offer enough computing power to last us a couple of years at least. Mrs McMuffin is a little bit ambivalent about spending this kind of money, but she is wisely keeping quiet. The biggest shock to me over the last few months has been my developing obsession with this pram. For some reason, well for many really good reasons, I have become increasingly convinced that Babycake needs to have a £500 pram. The thing is, it's light as a feather, with handles that were clearly made for people of normal height, rather than shrunken troll people, and the best bit is that it has independent suspension. It just seems to float. A dreamy machine, and I think worth every penny (not really). The other thing that I forgot to mention is that it just looks fantastic. I guess it was only a matter of time until my attention turned to baby technology. What next I wonder?

Nothing, is the answer - that pram is the ne plus ultra of baby transport technology. I tried to convince the missus that we needed one when the second child was born, but for some reason she didn't think that USD700 was an appropriate amount to spend when we already had two MacLarens. Some people don't appreciate technology and fab industrial design, apparently.

Incidentally, the neighbourhood that we live in has plently of people who did buy one; I'd been thinking about staging a grab-and-dash (pram-jacking?), but now that daughter the younger is nearly two, it's a bit of a moot point.

Spend the money on the computers. Believe me, that buggy does not look fantastic.

Babycakes will grow that quickly, that unless you McMuffins are planning to spawn again, it will be down the charity shop before you can say back to school with Trutex.

Ooh, the Bugaboo! I'm envious. That is THE stroller to be seen pushing around in my neck of the woods.

Just to make you feel a little better, Mrs. Daddy Daze and I took leave of our senses when Grace was born and bought a Bertini for $400:

Babys make you crazy.

Spend, definitely spend: our pram cost about that much back then and it was worth it (and was only just less valuable than the car). A high handle is invaluable if you want to avoid 'pram pain'.
And now, on the subject of the last post, I've finally got two child protection experts to pop the question to. Over here a lot of toddler medicine is administered by suppository. You've seen how difficult it is to get medicine down a sick toddler's throat, so why not the other end? Saves everyone a lot of bother. But the bottom seems to be a taboo in Britain. Is this where the expression 'up-tight' comes from?

It really doesn't look that much different than one of those SMART cars. As he grows, you can soup it up until by the time he goes to college, it will have a engine in it and he can drive it there.
