Waitrose is obviously the place to be on a Monday afternoon. Within the space of twenty minutes Mr McMuffin and I had bumped into three neighbours (including Rock Cake) and the nice Ukrainian woman from my antenatal classes. I was pleased to hear that the nice woman had a healthy little boy weighing 9lb 8oz just before Christmas. She proudly announced that she'd had a normal birth with no pain relief and I couldn't help noticing her completely flat stomach. Now she's either an inspiration, or she's taken all the luck and there's someone in the group who's going to be delirious with drugs throughout labour and the owner of a jelly belly for the rest of their lives. Please don't let it be me. Still no sign of the Bairn.

He's just taking his time, isn't he? Argh!
On the other hand, the longer he waits to come out, the less likely he will be to be colicky. Or so I've heard.

No, a birthing pool is the best place to be on a Monday, Mrs McM.
As a matter of interest, did you immediately make for the sugar bags to gauge for yourself just how big a bairn 9lbs 8oz was?

Didn't need to, my nephew weighed exactly that and my sister did it all with just gas and air. There's a lot of brave women out there.
Jo, that would be great, a colicky baby is a crime against humanity.
