serenity
We went to see Serenity last night. I was a big fan of the TV show, which was cancelled after only 14 episodes. Apparently, the media moguls saw the error of their ways when the show sold cartloads on its transfer to DVD, and now we have a big budget, big screen, version of the show. For those of you who don't know, the show is a kind of western/space opera kind of thing. Joss Wheedon, the creator of Buffy and Angel, has written and directed a great movie. It's has an intelligent script with a strong streak of dark humour running through it, and it makes for an exciting movie. The characters are believable and, for the most part, you care about what happens to them. The special effects and action scenes are excellent. In fact, there is a space battle which is probably better than the one in the last Star Wars film (I can't even remember what it was called, although I did enjoy it.) Go to see this film. It is certainly the best SF film that I have seen this year, and even Mrs McMuffin loved it.
