is this in poor taste?
Is 7/7 cooler than 9/11, not as a (terrible) event, but as numerals? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Mrs McMuffin is shaking her head in disapproval.

It might be cooler if today was two years later.
You may not know this but 911 is the phone number the US uses for emergency calls to the police/medical/fire dispatchers so it was somewhat ironic to many folks that Sept. 11 turned out to be our "big" day.
That said, I wish this was one contest that nobody wins or even competes in.

I think I'll start planning an overseas trip for September 2009 - just in case.

I can't believe you. Now, that really is in poor taste! I can't believe that you're joking about something like this when there are children starving in Africa.

Well at least it avoids confusion when people (Americans) reverse the order. I mean 9/11 is acually 11/9 isn't it. At least with 7/7 it's the same both sides of the pind.

Oh, I did not realize the numerical significance of the date. Here in America the 911 thing for calling emergency services was one of the first "odd" things we picked up on.
Does 7/7 have any kind of significance for you in England?
