what a week...
My second week in the new job has finally come to an end. The job is great. I'm really enjoying being in a well organised team and local authority. My energies are being taken up with the work rather than trying to create some kind of structure around me, all the while defending my boundaries. However, my body has finally succumbed to the stress of the last few weeks, and no sooner had my stressed nose healed than I became deaf in both ears. I could hardly hear a thing. It has been exhausting trying to hear people talk. It's amazing how many people mumble, and no matter how many times I tell people that I can't hear they very quickly slip back into mumbling amongst themselves. I have to say that Mrs McMuffin has been one of the worst culprits. She has decided that I am having a go at her every time I tell her to speak up. I attended a meeting last week, and she was there too, which was a little bit strange. I'm not used to having meetings with my wife, especially ones where she is more senior than me. Anyway, it was quite a big meeting, and out of all the people there, she was the one that I had the most trouble hearing. I have also discovered something interesting. Black women, African Caribbean and African, often seem to have relatively deep voices, which makes them all the harder to hear. I'm off to the doctor in an hour to have my ears cleared. I can't wait. I've got the new Foo Fighters album to listen to this evening. I've been saving it until I could hear it in all it's glory. Hope it's a good one. I really must do a bit of tidying up now. I've spent the whole afternoon playing around on this machine. Mrs McMuffin will kill me if she gets home and finds the kitchen in a mess.

its probably listening to this music that made you deaf in the first place:-P

I just had an email from Play.com to say they've sold out of the 'bonus DVD' version of the new Foo Fighters album, despite the fact I ordered it about three weeks ago. However already deaf from loud machinery at work day after day (and trying to listen to music over the top of it) Doh!

Having a hearing loss myself, it amazes me how ignorant people are on this topic. They think you are stupid but if you can't see something, that is a different story.
Why the sudden hearing loss?
