« i'll sleep when i'm dead | Main | he returns »

a sad day

Poor little Slinky is at the vet's, preparing for surgery tomorrow. He is going to have his right eye removed, as the evil black cat punctured his eyeball when it attacked him. We have just come back from seeing the Slink and he is most pissed off that he has been locked in a cage like an animal, or a prisoner at Guantamano Bay. It was very sad and I have been unable to talk about him at work today without sobbing like baby.

This has been an eventful couple of months, with a lot of bad and some good things going on. I hope things settle down a bit, to the boring that we know and love. I hope that Slinky adjusts very quickly to only having one eye and we can persuade him to wear a cute little eye patch and a pirate hat.

Oh, poor Slinky. I hope it doesn't affect him too badly. Same goes for his human carers.

Are you now plotting to make the evil black cat 'disappear' before he does any more damage?

I did have mad vengeful thoughts of poking his eye out/charging the owner for the cost of the treatment, but of couse it's just a cat, no matter how evil it is.

Apparently Slinky will be ok, the vet said cats cope brilliantly. He was a very nice vet who owns a Burmese, so at least we know Slink's in good hands. Our poor next door neighbour is on holiday, so she'll have a bit od a shock when she gets back.

Too bad about Slinky. I've owned two one-eyed cats in my lifetime (so far) and both did very well in all aspects of their lives, except hunting. That was messed up forever.

Regarding the pirate look...go for it, but good luck on getting Slinky to do that arrrggggg thing.

ooh poor poor Slinky...but it sounds like he will be fine and you can pamper him even more than normal...can we see a pic when he wears his patch and pirate hat?

wow, that's terrible! I hope slinky adjusts to his mono vision. I understand cats adapt easily, though.

Poor dear Slink!!!!

Sympathies to you and to The Slink.
Bob's been fine with one eye, although he hasn't had his out, it's just all white and scary looking.
Black, scary looking, sharp claws... hmmmm.

No, NOT Bob as eye asassin!

Thanks for your well wishes. He should be fine to bring home tomorrow and Mr McMuffin and I are making plans to pamper him, such as letting him sleep on our bed any time he wants.

As someone who is nuts about cat too, I was really sorry to hear about poor old Slinky.

I think some retribution ought be venged on the evil black cat, at least a bloody good kick to make it think about coming near your house again.

When some kid shot one of Growler's cats with a pellet rifle, he stayed up with her for three nights. That's Growler for ya, a big softy too where animals are concerned.

Oh no! Poor Slinky! I bet there will be a bit of peripheral vision adjustment. My Dad had two dogs that came down with sudden onset blindness. It took a few weeks of bumping into walls and not quite making the full leap to the couch or the bed. I'm ashamed to admit we had a few chuckles over it. But later, after they adjusted, they got along just fine and knew how to get around the entire house.

Poor Slinky. He'll most likely take to the new eye patch quickly and I'll bet he can use it to pick up the lady cats looking all rouguish and suave and cool.
