look what i found...
These are just common garden spiders, but they're amazing. When I started to take the photos they started to swarm and even though they're only a couple of millimetres across I was a little scared that they would jump onto my hand. Another thing, even if I do say so myself, my photos are much better than the ones on the BBC website!

Brilliant photographs, Mr Mc - I've said it before and I'll say it again: you take excellent close-ups. I especially love the whole shadow effect.
As for the material being photographed: WOW! I've never seen that before. That's really fascinating! It was also interesting to read on the BBC website:
[The female's] life is now dedicated to protecting these eggs and she will sit with them, unable to hunt, until she dies in late autumn.
That's really sad. I think that you and Mrs McMuffin should take turns at taking her something to eat every day, so that she can live a bit longer. That's the least she deserves after all her hard work!

I feel badly making a negative comment about a mommy spider on what is Mother's Day here in the US, but ICK. Can't you smash those guys up quickly? Before they get large and really scary?

Melissa: How horrible!
Mr Mc: "I was a little scared" of a 1mm spiderling? Mrs Mc must feel so safe having a big strong man like you to protect her.

Splat 'em. Or suck 'em up the vacuum cleaner. If in doubt about methods ask Gypsy Tart. Then you can also get really paraniod and TAPE UP THE END OF THE VACUUM HOSE IN CASE THEY ALL ESCAPE.
When I lived with the 'Tart I frequently came home to trip over the hoover in the hall and find the end sealed with parcel tape - "'cause a big scary spider had me in an ( eight leg?) arm lock and now over I've overthrown him he might climb back out to hunt me down and eat me for breakfast"-type scenario. And I thought I was a big girlie blouse when it comes to arachnids.
