recently updated

Every now and then I investigate some of the recently updated blogs and other people's links with a Christmas present type expectation-you just can't tell what's inside, fabulous or crap. Sometimes I have been very disappointed. Imagine my hurt when I found out that Iowahawk for example, wasn't really about Iowa, or hawks. I have also felt quite cheated when I have misread a blogname. Sheila as(h)tray seemed like someone I could get to know, a fellow diva nicotina, but in reality was nothing to do with a woman smoking fags.

I like to think our blogname does what it says on the tin, but perhaps there are people out there who have a real sense of disappointment on discovering that we are not a family of eggburgers, but rather a medium for Slinky to acquire an internet presence.

I do the exact same thing with the same expectations. Sometimes I find some real gems (like yours!!!) and think "Why can't MY blog be like THAT???"

A family of eggburgers! Hee hee hee - that actually did make me 'laugh out loud'!

I have a confession to make: I sometimes use your Recently Updated Weblogs list, too! I used to have one of my own, but then, as you say, you never know what you're going to find, and I started to occasionally get weirdoes visiting my blog, after finding it in their statistics. Now that I only use lists on other people's blogs (not just yours), I don't need to worry about that as much anymore! Some might call that cowardice, and they might be right. But anyway...

Besides, it's all the better for raising Slinky's profile for even more people!

I found a gem this way (well for me anyway)..Veniceblog. As someone who instantly fell in love with this city and will visit regularly this site has given some amazing insight and background stories to enrich my visits.

I'm too lazy to look at the "recently updated" - or rather I'm too short of time. I do look at the blogs of people who comment on me, or who comment on my friend's blogs and so I have grown a small circle of friends who know each other in a blogland way. Like a little extended family.

I was actually looking for cake recipes but despite the disappointment I've hung on.
