the arcade fire
Yes...I've found another new band, and they are amazing. Guitars, strings, weird gothic lyrics, singers you can't quite hear properly, and songs that seem to change before your very ears. Who could ask for more. Great stuff. I haven't listened to it properly yet, but on first, or second hearing, this is the song that sticks. I'm not sure why, although I suspect it's because the lyrics strike a chord somewhere:
All the neighbors are startin' up a fire, burning all the old folks the witches and the liars. My eyes are covered by the hands of my unborn kids, but my heart keeps watchin' through the skin of my eyelids.
By the way they're called The Arcade Fire.

Does the CD come packaged with a special 'wrist-knife'?

I'm sorry for putting down the music you're so excited about. I should learn to follow the adage that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.
Having said that, you did knowingly unleash this 'sound' on your unsuspecting public, so perhaps there is room for humorous comments after all!
OK, I'm off now to enjoy the jolly tunes of Leonard Cohen! (Well, in comparison...)

Hmmm, it could require a few more listens. I like the violins, not so sure about the repetative drums. Is it all like this or does the flavour vary from one track to the next?

Repetitive drums? Not sure I know what you mean. I like to think of that as building towards a climax. I think this is pretty much what they're about. Some tracks are louder and there are a few differences. I think it's probably one of those albums that grows on you, although I liked straight off.

Oh my...repetition vs. building to a climax.
You're really asking for a boy vs. girl commentary on this one aren't you?
