what a week
Have I told you that I got a new job? I managed only four days of unemployment and while it was a relief to get a job, I really wished I could have more time off. Ah well, I started work yesterday, and, without giving away where we live, there were huge problems on the road, and it took me three hours to get to work. At one point I noticed that I had travelled two miles in two hours. Even I could have walked it faster than that, only I can't walk this particular route. The AA site says that this is a 7.8 mile journey and should take me 11 minutes. I was 2½ hours late for work on my first day. That was a great start to my new job, but it only gets better. Today I set off, but turned back after only 30 minutes because the traffic was just the same and I couldn't bear the idea of spending all that time stuck in traffic with all those incredibly stupid people who feel good that they have moved forward a couple inches at the expense of blocking the exit of a couple of hundred other road users. Anyway, I have had a very relaxing day. Played on the computer for a couple of hours, then dozed for the rest of the day in front of the TV watching Celebrity Big Brother. Slinky was in cat heaven. He melted over me and insisted on breathing his fishy breath into my face [why do cats have fishy breath even when they never eat fish?]. Back to CBB. I was determined not to watch it, but it has got me hooked. I was amazed to see that Jackie Stallone joined the group today. Now, she really is nuts!

we are loving CBB! it is so trashy but still compelling.
We both want Jeremy Edwards to win as he seems to be reasonable intelligent, well balanced and has a good sense of humour.

How did you manage to stay at home? Is going to work just optional for you southerners, depending on how the traffic is? I can see we're really missing out on a trick here in the "Congestion-free North".
Btw, the fish-breath comment strikes true. Charley has been nowhere near fish for over a week but he yawned today right in our faces and it just reeked of Tuna!

Congratulations on the new job. Your day sounds like my idea of the perfect job. I've gotta try that too much traffic routine tomorrow....

Steve, don't you realise that it's a north/south divide thing. It's because you lot work so hard that I'm able to take a day off whenever I like. We don't really need to work down here, but we go just for the fun. Ooops, I've probably said too much.

That would be quit...not wuit, I really must spell check...spell check before hitting that bit POST button. Sigh.
