the one in which i recount a slightly surreal experience
A conversation I had on the telephone yesterday:
me: I need to see the child...bring her to my office now...
client: you're not a social worker!
me: I don't understand, what do you mean?
client: you're not a social worker
me: I am a social worker, I just told you that I was, what do you mean?
client: you're NOT a social worker!
me: I am
client: you're not a social worker, not with that attitude...
Later...
me: are you ready, my number is 555 4323 7890
client: that's not the right number!
me: what do you mean?
client: that not right
me: I don't understand what you mean
client: that's not the main social services number
me: no, it's my direct line
client: oh, I see...

Well, you don't sound like a social worker. We were taught to respect the professional privilege and power we hold over clients. I think that perhaps that is what your client is talking about.
