mrs thatcher is a crocodile...
Iowahawk [Do a Google! He doesn't need the f**king link. No, I'm not jealous, just little bitter.] gets more visitors each week than we do in a year. We've decided that the only way to increase our traffic is to become Political [that's with a capital P because of course the personal is political and we write about that every day...ad nauseam]. Mrs McMuffin has suggested that I tell the world that she was at the anti-poll tax demonstration that ended in riot in 1990. By coincidence I was in London on that day too, although I was yet to meet the loveliness that is Mrs McMuffin. It was probably like a scene out of one of those films, we just kept missing each other during the course of the day. While we both violently disagreed with the poll tax, I must admit that I didn't get much opportunity to crack the nuts of any of the rozzers because I spent most of the riot downstairs in Forbidden Planet on Charing Cross Road looking at comics [if memory serves it was a very reserved riot, in the way that only British riots can be, and that was the first time I bought Dark Night Returns by Frank Miller, what a great comic book that is!]. Imagine my surprise when I surfaced to find that the streets were deserted, strewn with rubbish and a Tesco's shopping cart [where did that come from?]. Mrs McMuffin, on the other hand, was in the thick of the demonstration until she met an old college chum and they decided to go the pub for a drink. It saddens me to report that she too missed the riot. It would be another two years before I met Mrs McMuffin in the flesh. She would be gagging for me for a couple of more years...damn that personal stuff.
Update: Mrs McMuffin and I have just had a heated debate about the poll tax riots and the way in which it influenced my decision to denounce Communism and accept Consumerism. She just called me a class traitor.

Good grief - did you notice the asking price for Dark Night Returns? I'm sure I've got a copy in a box somewhere. It's a good book, but I preferred Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta" which was an interesting if somewhat naive take on what continued Conservatism would lead to in the UK.

That's amazing! I didn't notice how much they were charging. It funny you should mention Alan Moore because I always, and I still own, a copy of Watchmen which is fantastic.

Meh. Politics, shmolitics. The real secret to getting blog traffic is namedropping and appeals to reader vanity.
Evidence? Note how I am attracted like a moth to the hypnotic appearance of my own name at the top of this post. I am somehow unable to avoid leaving a complimentary note, as I the mere mention of me in this post surely indicates to me the good taste and intelligence of the blogger, Mr McMuffin.
Voila! Soon, the blog riches roll in.
