going east

I have been very adventurous and left the house today for the first time since Monday night. I am now completely exhausted and recuperating with a slushy marguerita, courtesy of Mr McMuffin. He has been very accommodating and has agreed to travel to Poland by train. I often go to this site and dream of elegant journeys around Europe. So much more civilised than nasty, sweaty planes.

Sigh...can I come along? I have still never ridden on a train...except for the commuter train here in Los Angeles, which doesn't count.

What a great idea! I have myself taken the train from Leeds to Wroclaw, and then back from Krakow to Leeds. Knackering, you realise? But fun if you pace yourselves and you've got lots of food and drink. I prefer daytime travel, though, so you can see things. Night-trains are just a bad night's sleep. Don't forget to reserve smoking seats as much as possible.

Where are you planning to go in Poland? I highly recommend Krakow, which has one of the most beautiful city centres I've ever seen.
