fickle heart
I just found a best of Sniff 'n' The Tears. I was introduced to them in 1980 shortly after I came down to England from the windswept Orkney Isles to train to be a silversmith. For some strange reason someone at the college decided that I should share a room with another Scottish boy. I think they had some idea that because we were both Scottish we would get on well. They were right. We got on very well, and he introduced me to Sniff 'n' The Tear's album Fickle Heart which has one of my all time favourite songs: Driver's Seat. I can't believe that it's 25 years since I used to lie on my bed listening to this song with the volume at full blast, wondering if I would get through the entire song before the neighbour banged on the wall to complain about the noise. I used to love the album cover too. All of the band's album covers were based around paintings by the lead singer, lead guitarist and song writer, Paul Roberts. There is something about the little stories that he tells in the paintings that always got me thinking.

You're trained as a silversmith? Is there no end to your talents?
