who knows what he's on about...
I don't want to brag but I've done all of my Christmas shopping. That is, I've done all of my food shopping and all of my present buying! Please don't be jealous. I'm sure if you had just been sacked you would have skived off as much as I have. Although, having said that, I was at the butcher's shop the morning at 7.45am to collect the turkey. The butcher is a friend of ours. He's the husband of a lovely woman I used to boss around, in a very nice way, of course. We have talked about him before. It was he who gave us our first taste of real, properly hung beef, and now we can't eat supermarket muck anymore.
You know, I've even done some of the cooking. Our pathetic little cooker wouldn't allow me to cook everything on the day. I've made the canapes, the bread sauce, the cranberry sauce and the parsnip mash. I froze them. I love freezers, they are so cool. I still have a lot of cooking to do tomorrow. I just hope Mrs McMufffin realises that, and doesn't expect me to be cleaning too.
Time to place myself in situ. I am sitting at the computer drinking Cointreau. I bought a new bottle, just in case, and there was only a little bit in the old bottle, so I thought I should drink it. I've also drank the best part of half-a-bottle of wine. I feel very pleasantly buzzy. I am sitting here listing to Mary Chapin Carpenter. She has a very pleasant voice. Reminds me a lot of Michelle Shocked, actually. Good grief, I am now playing Anchorage by Michelle Shocked. They could be the same singer. That is spooky.
This is just one big ramble, so I am going to stop now.

Have a pleasant day tomorrow. I often find that Christmas Eve is much more satisfying than Christmas Day itself. All that anticipation, you know. I'm 99% done with food shopping, have the gifts bought, but still have about 20% to wrap.
I off to find the Cointreau~tho I think Grand Marnier will have to do.

I'm so pleased as our local market has just installed one of those giant lockers for dry aging beef. There shall be a lovely dark red almost brown rib roast for next week....
I am sure all of you cooking shall be greatly appreciated by all and sundry. Given the choice of a new cooker or a new imac....who would win?
