slinky is the howard hughes of cats

Slinky will only eat Friskies in gravy. No, he will not eat Friskies in jelly. No, he will not eat Whiskies in gravy, and under no circumstances will eat dry biscuit type stuff. The poor cat would rather starve than eat anything but Friskies in gravy. Not just that, but he has to eat it in a particular way too. First of all he has to lick off all the gravy, leaving behind a bowl of the most disgusting looking lumps of grey brownie stuff. He likes to go into the hall and have a good yowl after the first course. During the rest of the evening he will return to the bowl several times and finish off the lumps. The real question is, how long will it take Mrs McMuffin to realise this?

Actually, (and this is based on the last few months' re-education of my own dear Misty) he's waiting until you've got three months' stock of "Friskies in gravy" whereupon he'll suddenly switch allegiance.

I've found that while Slinky may currently give the impression that he'd rather starve than eat Brand X, this too is no more than a charade.

You'd have to endure a few weeks of huffs and complaints, but eventually it'll sink into his skull that what's in his bowl is all that's on offer and it'll be gobbled up.

Is that how Howard Hughes used to eat HIS Friskies?
(I'm just searching for the connection here...)

Surely you remember that Howard Hughes would only eat banana ice-cream towards the end of his life. There's not a lot of connection, but it is there...

Oh, of course I remember now! Howard often used to tell me how all he could palate was banana ice cream when we had our secret sojourns at his place in the summer of '76.
