lemony snicket's a series of unfortunate events
I wish I'd gone to see the happy elf movie. It looked beautiful, and Meryl Streep was excellent, but it just didn't involve me.

Have you read the books in the Lemoney Snicket series? They are excellent. I bought the first for my oldest child years ago, but I think I enjoyed it more than she did.
I am afraid to see the film, lest it ruin the books for me.

I had the same problem with it. It was kind of cool, but distant. Kind of like Batman movies.
