competition...
It was indeed Jack Benny in a Santa suit playing the violin. That show must have a hoot. Anyway, I have decided that there were no winners, but a special prize needs to be given to Chuck who admitted to owning the record. That man must have a very sad life and we owe it to him to try to cheer him up a bit. So, Chuck, Mrs McMuffin and I will think positive thoughts about you for 43 minutes at 9am (GMT) on Christmas day. I'm not sure where you live, but I am guessing that you are American, and you might need to set your alarm very early to feel the full benefit of our gift.

I'm hoping that Chuck is at least 70 years old. No one younger than that should even know of that record (for sure it was news to me) let alone own it. Is it on 78, or waxed cylinder?
And having the balls to own up to it too! Hats off to Chuck!

Oops, I waited too long...the truth is that I don't think Jack Benny was even in the top ten of my mental list...believe it or not! Jack playing his fiddle sort of explains that zoned out baby.

Fortunately for me, I'm only 51. The record originally belonged to my parents. (Dad is 81.)
The analogue (!) disc is a 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LP (y'all remember those, right?)
As a kid, one of my Christmas rituals was to dig out Dad's record player and play the family Christmas records, of which we had about 1/2 dozen. This one never got played much. In fact, I don't recall what it sounds like!

Btw, my life isn't sad at all. Thanx for the posi-thoughts, tho!

Chuck, I realised too late that perhaps writing that you have a sad life is not the same as saying it to you with all the nuances that go with that. I hope it wasn't too offensive to you. I was only joking. And to make up for it, we will think positive thoughts about you for an extra three minutes on Christmas day, making it a total of 46 minutes. Yes, 46 minutes of unadulterated positiveness!

No offense taken, mr. mcmuffin. I mean, a 50 year-old record album forcryingoutloud. Who needs nuance? Of COURSE you were joking!
