competition

Karan has suggested that we hold a little competition for the best guess at what our little family for Christmas are looking at. The winner will be the person who gets closest to guessing it right, although the photo is a little surreal and I'd be very surprised if anyone could get it, or for the person who comes up with the best suggestion as to what they should be looking at. The prize? Mmmm...Mrs McMuffin and I will think special seasonal positive thoughts about you on Christmas day. I don't have a closing date in mind. We'll run it until people lose interest. Around here that usually happens in one or two days.

A giant cheesy bug?
Slinky sneaking in through the window?
The newly deorated dining room?

I'll leave all the rude suggestions to Steve ;-)

the surreal sight of a fat man in a red suit with white fur trim attempting to squeeze himself down a chimney without
a) anyone noticing
b) burning his bollocks off??

They're laughing at jolly old drunken Jesus attempting to do an impression of Father Christmas coming down the chimney. He's quite a merry old sod, I've heard, that son of God - especially considering the things he's had to go through in life.

It good to know I will have company.

They're not even all looking at the same point. Mum & dad and the two kids at the front seem to be looking at the same place but the kids at the back are looking somewhere else altogether and toddler-in-arms is distracted by the camera. It's like one of those old spot-the-ball competitions (David will know what I mean). But what are they looking at...? Dad in particular seems quite taken with it, whatever it is.

Oh yeah, like the Yorkshire Post used to have the unappealingly titled "Pick the Spot"!

The place where the ball REALLY was wasn't even the winning answer. Your guess had to coincide with where their "expert" said the ball was. What a swizz.

Oh, and WTF has "mum" got on her mouth? Joke lips from out of a cracker, or the worlds brightest and thickest lipstick?

I think the fairy on top of the tree has just farted.
I don't know why I think that but if I had a psychiatrist I'd ask him.

They're looking at Santa, who is playing the violin. The Santa is really Jack Benny.
Why Jack Benny? Because the pic is from the cover of "Dennis Day Sings: Christmas is for the Family" Dennis Day is the guy in the blue robe sitting on the floor. How do I know this? I have the record.

ps: Since this is a statement, not a guess, I suppose I'm disqualified. Please don't mock me.
