Void
He'd said he'd do it and he has. The Machete of Truth has deleted his blog. We wish him well.
We have just finished watching Touching the Void, which was an incredible 'dramadoc' about two climbers that we had wanted to see at the cinema. I was amazed that Joe Simpson had managed to survive a massive fall into a glacier and drag himself down a mountain with a shattered leg. I was also touched at what seemed like a real honesty about their thoughts and feelings and amused despite the horror, that Joe did not want to die to the sound of Boney M repeating endlessly in his head. The book is going on my Christmas list.

Who's blog has been deleted?

The Machete' of Truth. No point giving you a link to it because it has been deleted. Machete' was a right-wing nutter (although sometimes a little more moderate than most and sometimes a lot less too) that Mrs McMuffin took a shine to. She just loves a good arguement. He'd said some time ago that he planned to take the site down after the US election, and he did. I'm sure he will still visit us from time to time, but he blogs no longer. The internet is now a safer place for all left minded individuals.

I for one, am very sad. I found the Machete highly entertaining. Rats.
PS-Don't you two go getting any similar ideas. I need a daily McMuffin fix.

Thanks, Melissa-we have no plans to go anywhere and intend to build a huge archive of our lives.

Hmm, I never really got Machete, and he called me "a liberal" and meant it as an insult. I don't even know what it means to be a liberal - certainly I guess it has a different connotation in the USA to here. Is it someone who eats a lot of chocolate?

That's a chocaholic and several steps down from us babykillinghomolovingjesushatingsatanworshippingscumsuckinglipsmackingthirstquenching liberals.
Actually I always gained the impression that Mr Machete hammed it up for the sake of shock, as he was often a very reasonable man, but I agree with Melissa-it was entertainment and that's something not to be sniffed at.

I never even found it that. But tastes differ.

Don't worry, my Dad calls me a 'Bleeding heart liberal' all the time. And he means it as an insult. I don't take it that way though....

"Void" - how to make one feel totally insignificant and a mere speck of tiny flotsam on the surface of a planet floating in an infinity of oceanic space. Maybe we could all send the book to Mr Bush. But then of course he'd have to learn to read.(Cheap gag, I know)
Actually - Joe's horror at the prospect of dying to Brown Girl In The Ring also struck me as so tragically ironic I managed a chuckle or two through the tears. It was only topped but the fact that, to add insult to injury, he only knew he had made it back to base camp when he recognised the noxious smell and muck that he was crawling through to belong to the camp's latrine area.
