now and then
One of the pleasures of watching older films is seeing how much plastic surgery film star types have. We watched 'The Juror' tonight and I was struck by how much better Demi Moore and Anne Heche look now than they did then. I'd never seen this film before and it's really not that good, but it's definitely worth a look just to see how time runs backwards for these women. They must have high security attics to stash their portraits in. I've never been in our attic (spiders, obviously) but I suspect my portrait is ridiculously youthful. Not really fair, is it?

I'm lucky. I look naturally more and more youthful with each passing year and, like those movie stars, I hide my older (and older looking) portraits away in the attic. It's just good genes and healthy living. I suspect the same is true of Demi and the lovely Anne - I doubt those two have ever seen the inside of a cosmetic surgeon's consulting room. I'm thinking of publishing a book "Staying Young The Tilly Way" - you'll get a free copy, of course.

Perhaps you're right and Demi's genetic heritage has allowed her to lose the wrinkles around her eyes and plump her lips up. Perhaps Anne's nose spontaneously realigned and the bags under her eyes just melted away. Damn, they're lucky.
I am more prepared to accept that your genetic heritage has enabled you to stay lovely. After all, you are from the North and it just wouldn't be manly to go under the knife for the sake of vanity. I think you should write a book as an antidote to the celebrity muck and am looking forward to the free copy, you will autograph it I hope.

Dorian Gray ring a bell?
You are so right, though. Scary how Demi is scads more attractive than 20 years ago. Not just a little more, scads more.
