workflow...

WorkflowI finally finished the report I was writing at 4.30am this morning. I had two hours sleep on the settee because I didn't want to wake Mrs McMuffin and I went into work. Had a very stressful meeting with a family who told me that the conclusions of my assessment were completely wrong, I recommended that their child be removed from them, and then I met with THE MOST BORING PERSON...EVER (TM) who talked, and talked, and talked, but hardly said anything. The only way I could get away from him was to stand up and start walking to the door. Fortunately, he followed me and I was eventually able to bid him a fond farewell. The good news for me today was that I didn't have to go to what was going to be a terrible meeting with the horrible manager who had decided that my assessment was wrong before she had even read the report. Legal, God bless lawyers, told that her that it was inappropriate for her to be trying to get me to change my recommendations before the report was submitted to court. So, I came home early and had a couple of hours sleep. Feel fine now, and ready to eat and watch some more of The West Wing.

I didn't mean to say any of that, I really wanted to say, I LOVE MY MAC. The workflow for my report was simple. You can see it in the little chart that I have prepared. I DO know that this is all a little bit sad. At work we have a strange networked system running Windows 98. No hard drive, no disc drives, all very strange. I hate it. They would never buy us a useful program like Adobe Acrobat or Omnigraffle. Oh, I don't know what I am waffling on about, so I'll stop now. I think I am suffering from sleep deprivation.

Before I go though, here is a little movie of Mrs McMuffin trying out her vacuum spider catching thing that she bought at Lakeland the other day. The quality is really bad, but you'll get the idea.

Can I tell you HOW MUCH I NEED ONE OF THOSE!
In my kitchen are 10 windows. All of which open outward and create a perfect triangle. We know how much spiders adore triangles. We spent last weekend outside with the vacuum sucking up spider houses on EVERY SINGLE window.
And inside! Oh, I cannot convey the pain of it and how much I DESPISE any animal with more than 4, count them FOUR legs. How you are not allowed in my kitchen when the sun sets as you can then see EVERY SINGLE SPIDER WEB in full clear view.....
Sorry. I'll step away now.

*damn spiders, I HATE spiders.....*

It looks like a belly button being sucked off by a vacuum cleaner. How do you do the special effects?

It's a quality piece of film, alright.

Jo, you so need one of these things.

Funny but I thought it was a picture of a belly button too when it started off.
You were right - terrible quality. Glad I'm not a Mac user.

Btw, we love spiders. We let them live in our house unmolested. If one is in a "dangerous" spot (ie dangerous to him) we move him to a safe corner, or to one of the plants. In summer the bathroom is full of baby spiderlings and we have to be really careful!
There were four huge ones wandering around when we got back from the lakes, I think they were trying to figure out how to turn the heating back on.

What's a built in built in mac feature? Is it like a built in mac feature only it's more built in? I'm confused.

Is that one of those new Dysons?

Posted by: Machete' | 1 Oct 2004 18:31:36

You two really should get out more...

Sounded like a dyson to me, but looks like it has a bigger aperture to collect the wee beasties ;-)

Must get one. But what happens to the spider afterwards?

Posted by: aithne | 5 Oct 2004 23:11:34

Unfortunately you have to eat it. That's the only downside to this handy little machine.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Currently I am being very brave and letting a gin-or-mous spider live in my greenhouse since I have taken in the plants for the winter (hard frost due tonight ???!!!!!!!) and they are potentially covered in nasty beasties.
I think I deserve a present for my bravery. Would anyone like my husband's e-mail address to let him know?
