workflow...

WorkflowI finally finished the report I was writing at 4.30am this morning. I had two hours sleep on the settee because I didn't want to wake Mrs McMuffin and I went into work. Had a very stressful meeting with a family who told me that the conclusions of my assessment were completely wrong, I recommended that their child be removed from them, and then I met with THE MOST BORING PERSON...EVER (TM) who talked, and talked, and talked, but hardly said anything. The only way I could get away from him was to stand up and start walking to the door. Fortunately, he followed me and I was eventually able to bid him a fond farewell. The good news for me today was that I didn't have to go to what was going to be a terrible meeting with the horrible manager who had decided that my assessment was wrong before she had even read the report. Legal, God bless lawyers, told that her that it was inappropriate for her to be trying to get me to change my recommendations before the report was submitted to court. So, I came home early and had a couple of hours sleep. Feel fine now, and ready to eat and watch some more of The West Wing.

I didn't mean to say any of that, I really wanted to say, I LOVE MY MAC. The workflow for my report was simple. You can see it in the little chart that I have prepared. I DO know that this is all a little bit sad. At work we have a strange networked system running Windows 98. No hard drive, no disc drives, all very strange. I hate it. They would never buy us a useful program like Adobe Acrobat or Omnigraffle. Oh, I don't know what I am waffling on about, so I'll stop now. I think I am suffering from sleep deprivation.

Before I go though, here is a little movie of Mrs McMuffin trying out her vacuum spider catching thing that she bought at Lakeland the other day. The quality is really bad, but you'll get the idea.

don't be jealous

I have been working like a fool who cannot stop working today. I have been writing a report, where the manager of the team who has commissioned the assessment has already told me that she disagrees with my conclusions. What was the point of all that work, if she has already made up her mind. Fucking nutter! Anyway, that wasn't what I wanted to post about. I have had an email from Apple, and I am pretty sure that this is a deal they are only offering me. They have probably seen my support of their products on this site and decided to reward me. My .Mac account mail has been increased from only 15Mb to 50Mb, and I can send files up to 10Mb in size. Now, from where I am sitting, slightly pissed on three glasses of red wine and a glass of Amarula, a great South African liqueur by the way, that seems like a good thing, although I realise it may not seem as good as the 1GB offered by Google.

By the way, I haven't finished the report but it has to be in tomorrow because we are having a meeting to discuss it tomorrow afternoon, so think of me tonight when you are sleeping in your bed. I will be working into the early hours of the morning. I have decided not to do anymore for the moment. I am going to have some dinner and watch a couple of episodes of The West Wing.

You know, the more I think of it, I really need to be in charge of everything. Why is nearly everyone I have any dealings with at work moronic? Maybe that really is an issue for therapy?

By the way, I am currently listening to Rush, and no, Jo, you Spangly Monkey, you, they do not suck. They are very good in fact. They have got me bobbing my head along to the beat. Now that is high praise. I had better stop, I am beginning to ramble.

vote...

...for President Bartlett. We have the fourth series of 'The West Wing' on DVD. We are fools for doing this, as we can't bear to wait a week between episodes and want to gorge ourselves on the series, a few episodes a night until we're sated. Mr McMuffin wants us to tease the Profiteroles with our new purchase as they are similarly obsessed and Mr Profiterole has watched every episode at least twice. Not since the days of 'Yes, (Prime) Minister' has there been such a good political series.

In the UK we have the Labour Party conference going on and Tony Blair has again apologised for acting (he says in good faith) on faulty intelligence, but says he won't apologise for getting rid of Saddam Hussein. I might drop him an email telling him that Orkney has stockpiled anthrax.

it is done...

I have just deleted all the music files that we have posted over the last 10 months or so. I didn't wanna, hadda. They were just taking up too much space. The posts remain the same, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the song.

skype

SkypeIs it just me, or does Skype seem like a really good idea? Telephone calls, instant messaging, file transfers (up to 4GB in size) all over the internet, and it's free. You can also buy credits to make calls to old fashioned land lines and mobiles, and that it is incredibly cheap too. Apparently it is an adaptation of all that peer2peer software that has been around for a while. This may very well spell the end of us having a land line. I am very concerned for BT. How will they manage?

Oh, and they have a global telephone directory where you can search for people all over the world. I found a couple of people with the same name as me, one in Canada and one in Japan, and I have sent them an IM just to say hi!

iSearch

I rarely look at the stats page, but given the bizarre searches that lead to blogs, I wondered what might lead to ours. I can confirm that if you google 'Cheesy Bug', we are number one. Fame and glory awaits.

iCook and iMeet

EvespuddingAmazingly my food was edible and no one seemed to get ill from it. I really enjoyed the cooking, but not being away from our guests for so long. I also want to know why it is that food you make yourself never tastes as good as when someone else makes it. Anyway, Mr McMuffin found it all very difficult, he is so used to being in the kitchen that he didn't quite know what to do with himself. Needless to say, he did not decide to change the bedding, or work in the garden.

We also met up with Kirsty for a coffee today and can confirm she is as lovely in real life as she is on her blog. Now we've met two bloggers who are perfectly nice and I'm wondering where all the psycho stalkers are that our friends feared we would be exposed to (if you are one, please don't see this as an invitation, go away).

We'd arranged to go and see I, Robot in the cinema with Gypsy Tart, so I didn't have any time for the clothes shopping spree I had planned. I just had time to check that Gap still don't have the trousers I want in my size because they have been 'walking off the shelves' according to the nice sales assistant. I'm not sure I want them any more now. However, I did get a fantastic spider catcher at Lakeland, and some slippers. Glamour is my middle name.

oh my god...

I don't believe it...I just threw a glass of red wine over Mrs McMuffin's lovely table. The guests haven't even arrived yet. She has taken it very well, and I have managed to clear most of it up. I am pretty sure that it really was an accident, but I guess I will have to talk with my therapist about it when I next see her.

George is wonderful

You have got to hear this. Dave over at Kermit the Blog has posted this amazing Tribute to G W Bush. Never mind about his military service, this man clearly has some kind of learning difficulty. I'd worry about that. This is why I love America, with enough money you can overcome any obstacle to becoming the leader of the free world.

there can only be one

Can you imagine what it must be like living in our house. Two visionaries with exceptional verbal skills! I can tell you it's not pretty at times.
