can you...
Guess this lyric? As I was driving home from work today I was listening to this song, and it suddenly occured to me that this would make an interesting occasional post. I wonder how many people actually listen to the lyrics of songs? Anyway, do you know which song this lyric comes from? There is a prize for the person who gets it right. Mrs McMuffin and I will think positive thoughts about the winner for 33 minutes on a date and time of their choosing (unless it is at a ridiculous time, of course).
And my skin is raw but my soul is ripe / No one's gonna stop me now
It is cheating if you Google it, and I will know.

Meatloaf, Bat Out Of Hell. Anyone my age would know it. Think kindly of me...

I hate to admit that I didn't have to Google it, but I'm a woman of a certain age, and we KNOW all the lyrics from Junior High.
Meatloaf, Bat Out of Hell.
Uninteresting trivia: Meatloaf is my favorite boss' first cousin. She's a wonderful woman, but unfortunately for her, the family resemblance is quite strong.
I wasn't first but the trivia might qualify me for honorable mention, right?

I CAN"T BELIEVE I DIDN't GET THAT IMMEDIATELY.
*Grrrrr walks away mumbling under her breath* I knew that was it, I knew it. Damn!

So, think positive thoughts about me anytime during next week when I will be on a cold wet hike in the lakes.

Steve you are officially our winner this week. We will think positive thought about you for 33 minutes next week. Those will probably be the 33 minutes you will not be rained on.
Melissa you get an honorable mention for taking part in the competition. Remember it's not the winning that's important.
Jo, Jo, Jo [with wagging head] ...what can I say?

Is it Meat Loaf? Bat Out of Hell? Do I win anything? Did you kill the cats yet?
Posted by: Darren | 17 Sep 2004 15:21:53
Darren, you have the right answer, but I am afraid you are too late. Mr Steven Tilly of Oop North won the prize. However, if it is any consolation, I only think positive thoughts about you when I think of you. The cats are not dead, they are just sleeping. Sure, they are a little stiff, but that's just because they are sleeping deeply. I'm sure they will be up and about soon, and chasing all those flies that are buzzing around them.

btw, your devstats counter takes about a week to download each time I view a page, which is OK for normal page viewing but a real pain when I'm doing a comment cos the "remember personal info" doesn't fill till after that loads, and if I start the comment BEFORE that finishes, it just zaps what I've already written when it loads... Grrrrrrr!!!!

Also, another issue which I didn't mention in my post is regarding theoretical groundings of information science(s)/studies. Here as well, there are theories regarding separate research focuses (information retrieval, information seeking, information behaviors, etc...). However, these sound like theoretical frameworks for various sub-disciplines of information studies rather than Information Science (singular). What is that 'thing' that ties all the information sciences (plural) together, besides for the fact that they all claim to be dealing with the 'thing' called 'information' - which is not necessarily defined the same across the various concentrations and research areas within information science/studies.
