betrayed

I'm going to have a conversation with my mother tomorrow. I think she has lied to me all my life about something very important. I think she has lied to me about the origins of Richard 'John Boy' Thomas. I am convinced that she said he grew up in the next village along from hers in Wales and that she knew his family. Imagine how I felt when I did a little search and found out that he was born in New York. My whole world has been turned upside down and it's too late to call her. I'll never sleep now.

I'm so very sorry for the deceptions of your mother. *sob*

The good news is that Mick Jagger is Welsh.

My dad told me when I was little, that we were related to Ulyses S Grant. In adulthood, I find this hard to believe and I am not that interested to spend the rest of my life on a geneology project to prove or dispove this. It is a bit of a disappointment I expect to find you have no connection with John Boy Walton. I would be inconsolable if it was me. KP

Thankyou all for affirming my pain. Inconsolable is the right word, Keith...I've hardly stopped sobbing.

Mr McMuffin is just being annoying and doesn't know how to play the 'claiming celebrities as Welsh game'. Mick is not Welsh, but Elvis was.

I feel your pain. Tony Bennett and I share his real last name. My mother has said for years that we are "probably related". How strong is that probability? Really, what a shaky claim to fame. I suspect she made it up out of whole cloth. That's my family; we never quite grasp the brass ring.

Mrs. Doclee is a 2nd cousin of the singer, Daryl Hall. Imagine how inconsolable that makes me. I share your pain.

My dad used to drag me along to games of Wealdstone F.C. back in the dark ages. Our goalkeeper was Andy Williams and I used to think it was awfully kind of him to come over from Hollywood every week, what with his TV show and all those duets with Perry Como.

She just made a mistake. She meant Dylan Thomas..or maybe Bob Dylan or maybe Bob Denver.
