et voila!

Here is the latest incarnation of our blog. I thought it was about time that we had a redesign. As far as I can tell, I have been able to keep the blogdemon out. Never let it be said that we are not attentive to the needs of our loyal reader. This version of the blog will only ever have little photos on it, and if I post lots of photos then I intend to set up a link to another page. The site should load very quickly now. Mrs McMuffin and I will now be posting under our own names, so no more confusion about who said what, hopefully. I have also taken off the recent comments and posts sections. They were annoying me too much, and really didn't add anything to our use of the site.

I still have a bit of work to do with the links to our blog roll and our obsessions, but that should be completely over the next couple of days. Oh, and I may have to change the banner again, because I am not sure Mrs McMuffin likes it all that much, although she hasn't seen this version yet.

As you can see, if you want to look, I have only changed the photos on the front page, I have left all the other photos alone, and, of course, none of them fit the new design very well. I am anal, but I am not mad.

All in all this has been a fairly painless refurbishment, not like the last one which nearly drove me a bit mad. It has only taken nearly a year, but I am finally getting to grips with Typepad, and the different ways in which I can customise the site.

Any comments on what I've done are welcome. I'm going to bed now.

I like the one-column look (is it permanent?), but where will all the obsessions go?!
Not sure about the banner, but then I really liked your last design.
And we get to see who posted what! Hooray!

I like the 'new version' banner. keep it! keep it!

But I *need* the recent comments! I look to see who has posted a new comment on what and look to see what they have said. Ditto for any replies you make (as comments) to my own comments, how will we see those now? Look through the comments of every post to see if there's been another comment...? :-((
Also, the "greyness" of the "posted by; comments; permalink; etc" line is a bit *too* light? I can barely see it (OK, so I'm a bit myopic anyway, but...)
Other than that it is a nice clean look.

I'll be honest!

What I like: It's fast. You can see who wrote what.

What I'm not so keen on: The text extending to fit the width of the screen; this means I have to move my head more from side to side, and it looks like I'm just disagreeing with everything I read! (I prefer reading 'vertically', and just pressing the space-bar to move down the screen one 'page' at a time, and Shift + space-bar to go back up; it works on most browsers, by the way!) Oh, and I miss the recent comments; now it'll be much harder to keep track of who's commented where, and if anyone's written anything since my own last comment! Oh, and it's pretty hard to read the light grey bit at the bottom.

Oh dear, that doesn't look very evenly balanced, does it? Anyway, the most important thing is that _you_ like having this strange single-columned blog, of course. It won't stop me from reading! (But it's the sort of thing that might have put me off if I'd come here for the first time, I have to admit.)

I'm not being very constructive, though, am I? Sorry - I don't know what to suggest, really. A fixed screen-width would be the best improvement on this in my mind.

What did Mrs McMuffin think of the Recent Comments list? (I suppose you don't actually need it, as I'm sure you'll get the comments e-mailed to you, anyway, like the rest of us.)

OK, I've got to go and have a shower, as this has been a long, sweaty journey...

It certainly loads quicker , but its hardly readable - I nedd my eyes testing again too. I with Steve on this as his stalker I need to know whay comments He has made :-PP Sorry not a fan of this design its way too bland.

Thanks for listening! :-) The column-width is now great! As for the Recent Comments, then I admit that they might seem a bit odd being there on their tod, but they're part of the life-blood of the blog. Maybe you could have some simple links under them to the other stuff?

By the way, I totally forgot to mention that I very much like the new banner! I liked the old one, too - but this one is even better, as it reveals a continuation of the whole McMuffin identity thing.

Yes this is much better now :-))
Oh and love that banner too, well done, glad you listened.

I must have missed the interim stages of the redesign and I must say...lovely. Very nice, slick, bauhaus and dare i say very Ikea, Apple of you.
Me thinks it is time to take a cold hard look at my cluttered design scape.....Perhaps something a bit Arts and Crafts(ie).

No...there was nothing to miss. It was a seamless redesign. Although, as you can see, I am experimenting at the moment. I just know I am going to let in the blogdemon.
