popporn

I just saw my first piece of porn on the internet. I was never convinced that other people found it 'accidentally', but I certainly did. Now I haven't got anything against porn if the models/actors are consenting adults and there is no violence or physical damage, but it's not really my thing. Mr McMuffin isn't a fan either and is still trying to erase an unsolicited image from his mind, seen on a misleadingly named site.

I think what put me off porn was finding some magazines in a field when I was a kid. We all looked through them and giggled. I was offended, not morally but aesthetically. What bits of underwear these women were wearing, didn't match, it was an atrocity. I don't think I've ever recovered from the experience.

Now people will come flooding to your site from google looking for porn.

Although it might not be as distressing as what resulted from the time when Julie (Plumbing the Deeps...) wrote about the mating habits of her budgies, and absentmindedly entitled the post 'Animal Sex'!

I noticed spurious titling has an effect in traffic. I eneitled one post "dogging" and that bought a ruck of visits. I ask you...

This happened to my 10 year old when given a site that sounded harmless by a classmate. She couldn't get the window to close and the more she clicked, the more windows opened. It was a traumatic experience for daughter and mother.

My god, your first glimpse of porn on the web? I'm amazed you've gone this long. I think it ought to be a crime (of sorts) to have porn thrust at you via misleading means. What do people hope to gain from that? Surely people who WANT porn will go looking for it, and those who find it under false names and misleading search reults will simply be shocked and/or offended. I have nothing against porn, I quite like it in fact, but I still find these tactics offensive and insensitive.

It's a very strange thing as Steve has pointed out. Why bother to disguise it?

As for 'Do**ing' I only found out what this was last week. How stupid am I? I even did a google search to confirm it!

I don't bother with our stats very often, so I haven't noticed any increase. I hope we're not attracting the 'wrong' sort of people!

"I hope we're not attracting the 'wrong' sort of people!" - I've been here for months now, too late to start worrying about it.

yes - i remember the porn pics in a field - or was it up the local woods. Didn't we all very maturely rip the pages out of the magazine and decorate the surrounding flora and fauna with it?? I still remember one particular image even today all these years later and after my sordid eyes have seen all sorts of strange sights. It involved a woman, a hi ball glass, a twist of lemon, some ice cubes and a very good aim.
