this is soul...

Mrs McMuffin and I have often debated about whether one musical star or another has soul. It is kind of hard to define, but you know it when you hear it. Mariah Carey, for example, has a great voice, but she has no soul. Whitney Houston is another one. Sam Cooke had a great voice and he had soul. I found this on the end of a Sam Cooke greatest hits album I downloaded. I've never heard it before. This is Sam Cooke's definition of soul.

Oh my...that is some soul. As Whitney, don't you think that she had soul until Bobby beat it out of her?

It is sad but true, even that experience didn't help her gain some blues for the soul. Although, having said that, her song 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' was pretty soulful (in a soul-lite kind of way). Gave me some idea of what she might be capable of...if only...her voice wasn't wasted on her.

Mariah Carey may well have no soul, but she's got nice soft floppy t*ts, so she'll do for me :-)
Some DJ said of her after a track ended the other day "Mariah Carey, why use one note when you can use a dozen" and that sums her up, and her warbling style (especially when she simpers at the same time, take "Dream Lover" for example) really makes me want to switch off. Unless I'm watching the video of course.
