the day after tomorrow

We just got back from seeing The Day After Tomorrow. Great film. Clunky script, saved by some good actors, and the most extraordinary special effects. The two hour film just flew by. Superior trash. Well worth seeing.

Husband was concerned about the believability of the plot, that the 'That would never happen' factor would ruin it.
Probably seeing the new Harry Potter film tomorrow. Either that or Troy.

...because Hogwarts is so realistic!!
Seriously, this film is great. Dialogue is poor, there's lots of unbelievable actions, but the special effects make it worth it and choosing proper actors for the main parts always helps move things along. I would watch it again just for the hurricanes, but then I am the sort of sad person who watches 'extreme' weather programmes and shivers.

Oops, that was me commenting and I've just repeated Mr McMuffin anyway. Must go away and form some opinions of my own!

I've read some reviews of the latest HP film, which lead me to believe it might actually be OK.
I'd go and see it regardless of whether it had good reviews or not. Didn't stop me with films 1 and 2 - they were pants.
You're not into Harry Potter then?

I've read three of the books and seen the first film, but haven't been able to get into the fourth book. I'm not really keen on seeing the films as I prefer not to think of Harry as that irritating boy who plays him.
I do like the books a lot, but after reading the Phillip Pullman books they seemed a little flat.

Oh, I LOVED the Phillip Pullman ' His Dark Materials' trilogy. I tried to drag them out as long as possible because I didn't want them to end. I recently picked up something called 'Lyra's Oxford'. I think something else may be coming soon.....

I see my beloved "Library Tower", tallest building West of the Mississippi is being destroyed in that picture you posted. I was thinking of seeing that movie myself, just because the special effects look so awesome. I had no expecations of the dialogue/script/plot being any good.

Norah, I'm trying to imagine London being devastated by tornadoes, like LA in this film, I think it would make it even scarier seeing your own city destroyed.
Jo, new book, yes!
