iSight...two way

david

We have just had a two-way [Mrs McMuffin, correctly, points out that the conversation was in fact three way...but who really cares what she has to say?] with David TEFLSmiler in his new home in Denmark. It was fantastic, although we did struggle with the slight delay. We kept cutting across each other. It has to be said that it was mainly Mrs McMuffin who seems to have lost most of her social skills as she has got older. I can get away with that because she laughed as I typed it! David is our hero. The bravest person. The first person to expose himself via the internet. I don't mean that in a bad way.

I dabbled a bit with web cams and voice/chat programs but found it realy strange and stilted (is the the right word?) talking to (and seeing) people who you really only know from mails. Of course since then I met several of them, which is much better and makes it easier to have phone calls etc later. I guess that's all just down to my severely stunted (and that is the right word) social skills - worse even than Mrs Mc I guess!

Stilted and stunted are both very good words, you've raised the tone with that vocabulary. Good to have you back...See, my social skills aren't that bad after all.

No matter how daunting - and believe you me, despite being a bit of an exhibitionist, I have real fear of the camera - it's still fun! I'm finding that just being myself is the way to go (having reached a reasonably self-assured stage in life, not being overly worried of being accused of as looking too hideous for the screen!).

The delay is something to get used to for the time being - it's still just so totally exciting being able to have a real-time video chat... and being able to see a (reasonably disinterested) Slinky in real life!

Long live iSight (for all .Mac and AOL users)!

PS You've inadvertently reminded me, McMuffins, that it's time again for me to change my blog photo!

PPS It's currently 6.40am (Danish time), and I've just got home not exactly sober!

Yay! What fun! My daughter does this with a friend of hers who lives in Wales. He's a college student majoring in French and he helps her with her French homework. It's amazing really.
