exploding pasta...
I had a strange food experience today. I was making some pasta when it suddenly exploded in the pot, perhaps exploded isn't the right word, it really just seem to disintegrate. The picture on the left is the before, and the picture on the right is the oddly broken up stuff. This has never happened to me before. Does anyone have any idea why this happened?

More accurately I should have called it an after-before picture. If it helps, you can consider it an artist's impression of the pasta before it exploded.

Old pasta or manufacturer put in no binder (egg) so it just turned into floury bits. Very scary, but I'm guessing you dined upon it anyway....

Of course not. Do I look like the kind of boy who would eat broken up pasta? As soon as I realised what had happened, I threw it away, and started again with different pasta. Was that wasteful of me?

I think there is a general demon around. I note also that you didn't go out to find your cat, but that Slinky found you - or sought you out, perhaps we should say, on a mission from his dark master. The aim of the mission? Who knows, but clearly Slinky must be responsible for the exploding pasta. It all makes sense - did your pasta ever explode before Slinky 'adopted' you? No. QED.
