happy happy

I am made happy by the sun. It is lovely. I have gardened and Mr McMuffin has been swearing while trying to put up the 'expedit' shelves from IKEA. Thankfully Gypsy Tart and Rock Cake are doing similar household stuff, and were able to come round to help us lift them up, so we didn't need to hire a crane.

Rock Cake is in a magazine called 'Paddles'. If you google this, you might think that he has a fetish for spanking. In fact it is a kayaking publication and has a feature on Rock Cake and his friends in Nepal. He is more than a little crazy I think, that stuff is dangerous and unnatural. I shall tell him so later, as we're off out to the Pub for a well deserved pint.

Yes - the sunshine was *amazing* today. I put factor 12 on and *still* got sunburn. In April! What's going on?!

Oooooo I am jealous, off to the pub. That is what I am lacking. We did do tons of gardening and met friends at the local garden center for proper shrub purchasing lessons for them, i.e., no boxwood next to where you sit as it smells like 'cat pee'.
A grand day out if I say so myself.
Have a pint for me.

Not just a pint, but also probably the best pub food I have ever had. I had steak, mushroom and guinness pie with chips. It was fantastic. Real chips. Someone had peeling, cut and fried real potatoes. I suddenly realised that I couldn't remember the last time I had chips that had been extruded by a machine or had been peeled and cut by a machine. There is someone wonderful about the different shapes and sizes of chips cut by hand. It is clearly a lost art! The pie was also fantastic. Huge chunks of steak and mushrooms, which somehow had been lightly cooked, in a beefy guinnessy sauce with a towering crispy puff pastry top. Not only did it all taste great, but there was absolutely tons of it. I was stuffed by the end of it all. Then there was beer and sitting in the garden in the sunshine in April. Who could ask for more?
