happy clappy

...no religion, I am just happy again. I don't mean to say I am always a miserable cow, but a weekend of warmth and sunshine followed by a week off work, a bank holiday, then interviewing appliants for an MA course for a day, then back to work on Wednesday 5th May makes me even happier. I've also seen my friend who I hadn't spoken to for 18 months today, and that was good. The only downer is I have to book myself in for a smear test this week as I can't cope with the harassing letters from my GP any longer. You may know that this ranks second on my list of hateful things to do, but I don't care today! Today is happy day again.

A woman's three most feared words:
Slide Down please.
Shudder.
Jealous of your long holiday!

That makes me laugh now, but I fear I shall to be too frightened to appreciate them properly when the time comes.

The nurse at my doctors did mine a month or so ago. She was very lovely and made the whole thing about as pleasant as it can get.
And I got a glimpse of my lovely (male) doctor while I was there.

Actually I am much better about nurses doing this, I had the unfortunate experience of a doctor doing my first ever smear and haven't quite recovered from it. She said some nice things about my inner workings looking healthy! Why? Just do the job, don't talk about it, is this the gp equivalent of the hairdresser's 'where are you going on holiday?' conversation starter?

ok ok ok ok you bunch of wimps - either that or i've just got a bucket f***y. Anyone one ever experienced the delights of a cystoscopy.....???? Now there's 'shudder' for you. Or rather, excuse me as i'm going to vomit at the simple thought of the sensation, pain and procedure. And NO, DR! I do not care what the inside of my bladder looks like at this precise moment YOU BASTARD!

Funnily enough, SC I have had such a procedure, and it wasn't nice. Fortunately (?) the consultant kept missing my urethra and putting water in the wrong orifice (am being coy) after many attemps they decide to call me in again so they could have a proper jab at me, and gave me a general anaesthetic, which was nice!

hmmm...yes....do not, under any circumstances, be awake during this nightamre, that would be my advice too.

..and good advice it would be given my first experience. I still had to be awake for the insertion of the local anaesthetic, and stupid consultant did manage to jab it in the right area a couple of times, but after 20 minutes of torture I told him to stop. The worst bit was when I went back, they told me that I was having a general anaesthetic because I was a 'nervous' patient, I told them I was nervous about bad doctors all right, then they made me wait for 5 hours before the procedure! I was the last person on the ward to go in. What would they do with terrified patients? However, none of this compares with a procedure I had last year, all I shall say is I was a glove puppet.
