electricity

I was in the garden earlier on prancing around as the first fat raindrops started to fall. I saw an incredibly bright flash and heard a sizzling sound from about twelve feet away, then the thunderclap sounded. Yes, I was almost barbecued today in my own garden.
Rock Cake wasn't very impressed as he has actually been hit by lightning, but I was still shaky when Ms Ginger cake came round and she must have thought I was drunk, until I explained. This is probably one of the more interesting 'near death' things that has happened to me.

Glad you are alive to tell the tale!
Weren't you deafened by the thunder? I had a similar experience at school many years ago, and although I was almost blinded by the flash of the lightning (which seemed to fill the room and was a delicate shade of pale lilac) the thunder was much worse.
I seem to have spent my entire day talking about thunder and lightning.

OH MY GOD!
I'm glad you survived. :-)
Hey, do you mind suggesting some numbers for the National Lottery? (Something about probability and being struck by lightning - it could be an idea to get a ticket, just in case!)
PS It might be an idea to stop walking about with that metallic Nando's sandwich-board on your head; it might look pretty, but it doubles up as a weathercock! Or put on some wellies, at least! ;-)

I don't like Nando's, it's Mr McMuffin who is chicken obsessed. However I do carry a sandwich board with 'the end is nigh' on it. How prophetic is that?
Wellies are a fallacy, but I think my Clarke's boots might have saved me, or else my righteousness.

Mmmmmmm, I love that sort of weather. We had the exact same thing last night in the garden. It was like it was right over the house. i think we must have sent it your way. Apologies. So happy you lived through it, but wasn't it a cheap thrill?

Oooo..... when Gypsy Tart and I shared a flat ( yes, the one with the acid green lounge) we were both in when it got hit by lightening. It was somewhat surprising to say the least. The kitchen light bulb exploded , and room was filled with the 'blinding flash'. I, however, was not quite aware of what had actually happened - even though oiutside the window domestic four-legged animals were pouring from the clouds, to the sounds of Rolf Harris on a wobble-board. I did in fact think it was another event to be attributed to the 'quirky' and 'inventive' wiring installed by our Sheriff Fatman landlord in that flat. The results of which cost us 1 TV, 2 toasters, 1 kettle, 1 microwave, 1 electric drill, and numerous table lamps over two years.

Good grief, how many of us have 'near lightning' experiences? I now find out my sister and 'annoying pest ' now grown into the lovely Single Cookie also have had this happen. I think that this is more than coincidence (remember Jane's theory about us lot all being abducted by aliens?)

Almost fried my chicken friday in that storm the other day. I really shouldn't stand on the apartment block roof...
