i forgot to mention...

I forgot to mention that I got my first ever piece of porn spam yesterday. I was shocked and deleted it immediately, of course. In fact, I bounced it back, so I am hoping that they won't bother me again. I have been online for about five years now and this is the first time I have received anything like this. I have been incredibly careful about which boxes I tick and where I leave my email address. However, within three months of signing up to Typepad, I am now getting porn spam. Is the true price of the using the wonderful Typepad really that I must accept porn spam?

Hmmm....I don't think it has anything to do with Typepad directly. My advice is to notify Typepad about the problem; lately the site has been having some problems with spam and are trying to correct it.

Thanks...I have seen that this has become a bit of a problem for the company and that they are trying to sort it out. I wasn't really thinkng that the Typepad people were responsible for the spam in some way, but rather the public nature of blogging and a company that offers blogging software has drawn unwanted attention from spammers. I guess it is worth their while harvesting our email addresses.

Welcome to my world. I get 70+ spam mails a day at home of which the majority are porn and the rest are selling me vigara and penis extensions (both of which I'm in desperate need of btw) (joking :-p). I deliberately didn't release my e-mail address on Typepad cos I was worried it might lead to a further increase in my spam. It's damned annoying and it's time my ISP (ntl) did something about it!
